Sorry bro, I don't feel it.

I think this is a case of when the music performed makes the personal impression of the performers severely biased.

If I liked the genre or at least the song, perhaps I'd be convinced she was both smart and sexy.

Man... I would feel the same way without sound even. I admit I really have a thing for women who're wild/crazy/weird, and she seems like a freak.

I also never talked about smart.

She definitely has sex appeal. I'll give you that ;)

Lately, I've liked Elle Varner, an R&B singer.

I like the scratchy, gruff tone of her voice.

Welllll.......she IS really hot!

I hate the music

It's a studio cut, which means 1)it might not even be HER voice and 2)if it is her voice, it's probably so heavily tuned and processed that if you heard her sing live you'd never recognize her.....

Having said that she is easy on the eyes.....just the kind of girl I used to love to bring home to piss my folks off way back in the day;)

youtu.be is youtube's new shortened link style. If you go on any youtube video and click on share, the link will have it written as youtu.be rather than the usual way youtube.com. Though both ways still work.

Okay - I saw the video... Doesn't sound like a lot of obvious autotune so that's nice. The gritty parts are really really well produced - makes you wonder if she can sing them live, but I would guess something close. Definitely pro sounding. She's fairly easy on the eyes so she should sell lots of records until the coke and booze burn her out. Would be nice to see them geetars plugged in though even if it's fake...

I believe the singer is Nikki Hail of Hailstorm. She is married to one of the band members. I'm not sure exactly sure which one. My son Gabe, has a recording engineer buddy who knows her personally and ask him to cover her version of Slave to the Grind (Skid Row). He thought she would get a kick out of it.

Here is a link to her version.

I'm an old guy so I'm a bit out of it. The video of Halestorm was atrocious in every possible way except perhaps the bass line. The radio station live cut was utterly different, like a different band, and the singer went from sounding like an angry female cat in heat, to showing real vocal talent and power.

Until I listened to the radio station cut, the other singer, Elle Varner, was light-years beyond the Halestorm singer--and I don't care for that funk sound style of hers either, but it allows a good singer to shine. But after the radio station cut, I'd say they were far closer.

Just a late-middle-aged guy's opinion.

Yep, she can definitely sing. I first heard them last year when a female friend sent me a link to the song "I Get Off".

Thsi girl is my latest obsession :-)

I just downloaded the latest album - there are a few standout tracks (Mz Hyde is particularly "tasty") but one thing is clear, this girl can really effing sing. She great range, along the lines of an Amy Lee who can bring the grit and has more low end. Not quite the vocal purity in the high end mind you but damn good.

This is a good example track of her "softer side" :-)

Oh, and she also plays piano - and seems like just a lot of fun based on this clip
