Learn what type of sound waves those sounds in your head would be made up of for hearable to ears sound. Are they more sawtooth, square, sine, flutish, bird or dolphin like, etc. Read up on how synthesizers create soundand what the synths diff sections do to the sound. Va's with easy intuitive interface are easiest for this imo. It requires taking the time to learn how your synth works what does what to the sound, and how to hear the componants of the sound in your head.
