Members misterzachariah
I need a good synth to do some ballsy, bassy stuff...only slight catch is that I don't have the money to sling around on just whatever I want (if I had that kind of dough, I would've bought a Moog Voyager and this thread wouldn't exist). I've got a MicroKorg, which I'm actually very happy with, but it's kind of limited in several respects (plus, I really dig the high-end capabilities and the ability to move around on the smaller keys, so I'm designating that one as the "lead" synth). I've had "Novation Bass Station" and "Moog Rogue" thrown at me...the former is hard to find though evidently, and the latter tends to run kind of high on ebay auctions. Let's say I've got up to $400 to blow, but I'd really like to keep it $300 and under, if possible. Any suggestions, guys? Also, if you or any bud of yours may be willing to part with such a beast, that also would be pretty sweet. Thanks,Z
Members The Real MC
Moog Source is a great bass synth
Members analogvincent
Try to find a realistic MG-1. It's basically the same as a Moog Rogue (with some cool extras actually) and it goes a lot cheaper. It has phat bass and a very juicy filter. Members sleepykeith
i've been fairly happy with the ms-2000 for deep bass. if you're happy with the micro's sounds... you'll probably like the MS even more. it's no model D, but then what is? i've seen them go for about $400. Members Aanalogaddict
If rack is ok, an ATC-1 delivers a lot of bass. Don't underestimate the Mopho either.

Members Darkstorm
Are you needing a 2nd board so that you can use two keyboards seperately? Microkorg can certainly do great bass voices including bass pads. If your needing 2nd board so can play two diff instruments with no limits on what keys you play and how for each voice, then a 2nd microkorg would be good choice for both your budget limit and desire for bass voices. I agree the small keys are easy to get around on for leads, pads, bass and fx too imo.

Members cram1960
Waldorf Pulse? The Moog Source and Rogue are routinely over the OP's stated $400 limit. The Source would be nice!
Members flat earth
Well, I was going to say Moog Rogue, as whilst owning mine, it was always Mr Bass master I'd agree with the mention of MS2000. Listen to STG's stuff. Some very cool bass work going on with an MS there. Others synths? hmmm... Actually seem to remember getting alot of deep bouncy stuff going on with my late Juno 6. Members evildragon
All the very good suggestions: most anything from Moog (), Mopho is not to be underestimated, Pulse definitely (but with an edge, it's a DCO monosynth). I'd throw in SH-101 for a good measure, but that one isn't as cheap to get AFAIK.
Members idiotboy
My advice would be to get a used Studio Electronics SE-1x or ATC-1.
