Just 57. RIP.

Fieger formed The Knack in Los Angeles 1978, and the group quickly became a staple of Sunset Strip rock clubs. A year later he co-wrote and sang lead vocals on "My Sharona."

I met Sharrona in 1980. She was hot. I was opening for LA New Wave Pop band 20/20 and hanging out with them after.

I walked up to a little hot thing and introduced myself. She said her name was Sharrona. I oh so cleverly said, "Hey... like the song!" She said, "That's me. Doug's my ex." She was interested in the singer for 20/20. Not me. Shame.

I really liked all of that first album. The band was very good. Fieger had a smirky, in your face persona in the press. Not a bad boy but more a naughty boy.

RIP Doug Fieger.
