Moderators Lee Knight Posted February 1, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 1, 2012 Absolutely something there. I looked up who Farnsworth was before I read. I love this: Creases in a pillow, the angry, furrowed brow, Potato fields in Idaho are television now. I'm a little uncedtain about the mother's breast and the baby. Great lines, to be sure. I love them actually, but they are not the first things I think of as TV images. How about:

I appreciate it. They're not all meant to be images from television, or even images you'd see on television. It's meant to be a somewhat impressionistic way of suggesting that there are repeating images in our unconscious minds that also used to kind of play out (and in some ways still do) as horizontal lines on a black & white TV screen. But maybe at this stage of the game it's more vague than impressionistic. LCK
Members saturn1
Television technology is my vocation - the reference to Philo Farnsworth immediately piqued my interest. I really like the idea that "Shapes and patterns hover over different points in time." It describes the way I remember past times and events. I can visualize the images you offer. Yeah, I agree there is something there. What are you thinking for the music? Something Ralph Towner/Oregon-esque? Something less impressionist? Wow, I haven't thought of Ralph Towner in 30 years. [video=youtube;CBifLkFzcCs]

Members rickidoo
You guys are a lot better at examining lyric specifics than I am. But, I wanted to say that the concept/idea presented in the draft lyrics is fab. I mean, there's so much imagery in there. As I read down the lyrics I am thinking one word: Kaleidoscope. This song is almost literally a Kaleidoscope of changing images, each interesting by itself, each unconnected yet connected with the previous image. I am hoping the music takes us down a similar Kaleidoscope journey to compliment the images presented in the lyrics. And the title of the song is interesting, even if one has no idea who the name was. But after this hits the charts they will. Rick
