Members LowandLoudx97
Specs - 10 ply Keller Maple 8x14 shell dual 45 degree bearing edges and snare beds cut. Lugs - Ego Maniac lugs in black Hoops - Pearl Black Diecast hoops Throwoff - Black Trick 007 throwoff Heads - Aquarian Texture coated batter, high performance snare side I put 3 coats of Flat black paint, sanding in between coats, and finished it with 3 coats of tung oil inside and out. I sanded the outside once it was dry with 0000 gauge steel wool to smooth everything out... All I can say is this drum is powerful, extremly throaty, and quite versatile. You can tune it low and fat, medium and punchy, or high and poppy. I really couldn't ask for anymore from a snare... im happy! You can hear the drum here - www.sicksdeep.com/bulls2.mp3 "this is not my band, this is a rage against the machine cover band that we assembled for my friends 30th birthday roast, we recorded this live in our rehearsal room, take a listen, i think the snare sounds pretty killer! And, how much prior experience do you have with building drums? I want a 14x8 snare! In total it was $465 for all the materials Alot of research went into this on my part. . . From start to finish this one took me 2 months of ordering and gathering parts, getting best prices on the best stuff i could find. This was the first drum i've built, but i'm considering building some for some people who may be interested... price break down - Shell - 8x14 Keller maple shell with double 45 degree bearing edges and snare beds $71 www.saludadrums.com Hoops - $100, Pearl Black Die Cast Hoops Lugs - $113.60 www.egodrumsupply.com Throw off

Members pjb
That snare would go well with my gunmetal DW kit. Lucky you don't live near me, I'd be doing my best to steal the {censored}ing thing! Must sound monstrous with the DC hoops on it. Good job on the build man! How's it compare to an SM57? Touch brighter, no? Just curious as I'm picking up a beta to try out on guitars/snare/whateva. Thanks!
Members LowandLoudx97
I dig the beta 57 for certain drums, It adds a little crispness that can be pretty nice. you should check out my Microphone comparison thread! http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1496672 and as for the finish goes, i used a flat black paint, 3 coats, sanded in between , and a tung oil finish over that. When it was all dried i polished it with some steel wool 0000 gauge... i'm happy with the results for my first time building a drum!
