Members cearleywine
Evans, Crest, and Coke. Actually, what's more important than brand is what type of head you're going to use. What sound are you looking for, style, stick size, and how hard you hit should all be taken into consideration.

Members drumtechdad
In case you haven't gathered from the resonses so far, the ordinarily quite helpful denizens of this board can't help you a bit unless you tell us what drums you have, what kind of music you play, what kind of sound you're after, and what heads you've been using and what you like/dislike about them. As to your question, "Remo or Evans," the answer is "yes." My kit is all Remo (PS3s on the bd, coated ambs over clears everywhere else), but my kid's kit has Remo PS3s front and rear on the bd, Remo coated ambassador over hazy ambassador on the snare, Evans EC1s on all tom batters, and either Evans G1s or G-pluses on the tom resos, depending on the drum. Lesson: you use whatever gives you the sound you want irrespective of brand.
Members jenksdrummer
Buy them all, find out what your drums like more. Even then, it's a matter of what's offered and what you're looking for. I bought my Pro-M kit while with my former band, and I never really got a chance to try out different heads on it to find out what it likes. Turns out, it really likes remo emperor over ambassador for the toms, coated emperor on the snare, and EMAD/PS3 on the bass drum. I've got a PS3/PS3 on there now, and it sounds decent - there's more attack, but, overall, the EMAD-II I had on there did sound better. That said, the thinner-foam-ring kept falling out and there are two large wrinkles between the top and bottom ply that doesn't come out (factory defect). I'll contact Evans and get a replacement... Remo has a kind of "snap" to the attack of the head that Evans doesn't have - even though they use the same mylar...

Members butvila
I seem to like all styles of drumming and don't really fit into a certain style which makes choosing a head a litlle problematic. I'm not a heavy hitter either. Right now I'm just working on improv. stuff, getting into a groove and just drumming my ass off for a couple of minutes at a time. Members race81
So then you multiple kits for all the differant styles you play, one kit for each differant head made......:poke:
Members drumtechdad
even though they use the same mylar... I don't believe they do, actually.
Members Jarick
Buy one of each for one of your rack toms (like a 12"). I love Evans heads, but they sound awful on my toms right now. Remos are much better for this kit, but they sounded awful on older kits. And if both sound great, go with whatever is cheapest.

Members qwertyMan
I prefer Remo Coated Ambassadors to Evans G1's. Also - very important - I've noticed that once you've cranked an Evans head up, it does NOT like to tune back down - it will sound totally dead if you try to tune it to a lower note than it had been at previously. Members bbe
remo. they just sound the best with my drum imo. im not opposed to using evans, but everyone else said, find the head that sounds best for your drums.
Members butvila
All sponds good. Went to the Evans web site and got lots of info. Now...when you replace the smacking side of the drum what do you put on the bottom side? The same one?

Members Cross Eyed Mary
I'm still waiting for the Flinstones themed porn flick. Barney and Fred pulling a Wobbly H on Wilma would be awesome.
Members Cross Eyed Mary
I don't believe they do, actually. Remo uses Dupont Mylar. Not sure what the others use, other than Attack making their non Bozzio heads from Dynaflex, a jap Mylar.
