Members boxofrocks
lol.. I'm actually planning a trip. My dream is to settle down in a cabin in Alaska, and do lots of fishing, and grow old.. So I'm planning my first trip, to have a look around, do some fishin, check out life.. Just seein if there was a local around here that could point me in some good directions. I got family up there, but can't get a hold of them, they are waaaaay up north, and have to fly in to their property. Phones don't work up there. Members satman
wow box thats pretty extreme.i was watching a show on alaska cops and 1 gallon of milk was like 13 bucks and 1 gal of gas was 7.my retirement plan is the mountains of mexico at the moment.currency rate is 10 to 1 so if i only have about 200 grand in my 401 when i retire and move to mex that 200 will be 2 mill and if social security is around at that time then i can actually live off of that alone.1 of my moms friends moved to lake chapala [sp] ? and bought a huge house on the lake for next to nothing and she lives off of 700 a month and says "shes living the dream"
Members bodinski
I (mostly) lived in Anchorage from 1973 to 1986. I miss it.
Members BrendanO
AK from '84-97. Kenai Peninsula represent. Alaska is my favorite place in the world. Hell, I've got the state flag tattooed on me.
Members boxofrocks
Yeah Sat.. I know that's an extreme, but that's why it's called a "dream".. I'm lactose intolerant, so the milk doesn't bother me, well actually i does, but the price doesn't And hoping not to need as much gas as I would here in the cornfields. I want to get away from the hustle... Brendan and Bod.. Where do I NOT want to go.. That's what I need to know, tell me what to stay away from.. And where is the cost of living acceptable.. Land and supplies.

Land and supplies. You'll have to give me more. Depends on what you're looking for, in terms of work, geography, climate, people, etc. Just saying "Alaska" is like saying "I'm gonna live East of the Mississippi." Well, fair enough, but Florida ain't Maine, y'dig?
Members bodinski
Well, I'm a city slicker at heart, so I'd wanna live in Anchorage. Met some pretty awesome people everywhere I went though - Seward, Palmer, Fairbanks, Wasilla, Homer, Kenai.. Heck - be a nomad! Lots of places to go fishing & get away from the world. Members boxofrocks
LOL... I get that.. But seriously at 33, I've seen it all, I've been to every major city, and every state, and 3 countries. I've had plenty of "city" adventure.. While most people are just getting started with life and family at 30, I'm almost done.. I'm ready to get away from it all, and live a little bit of simple life. Sorry if that sounds cheesy I been chuggin the red stripe..
