Members Gremson
Ok so not really blisters, but I wore a tender spot on my fingers after practice last night. I think it's a result of using heavier sticks. This is the first time something's hurt from playing drums. I kinda like it.

Members Gremson
I'm not bitchin' about it at all. I kinda like that the music I play hurts so good. If only I could cover my kit with a smattering of my own blood after every show.
Members 6topher
self taught & not much technique here. and i'm cool with that - blisters & ripped flesh just about every show, some practices - they make band aids with duct tape material that work ok. I always have blood splatter from the occasional cracked knuckles on a floor tom rim on my heads..and pants. suits. I never even know any of that {censored} is going on 'til I am done playing - useta bleed at shows when I played guitar too. don't care.

Members cearleywine
Play a few tunes on the Upright, if you're not a regular bass player you could potentially have blisters on every finger.

Yep. At the drum jam, I was such a noob I didn't even know I needed a drum mat (I've only ever played in my carpeted basement....). So at the end when my gf was helping me loadout, someone remarked, "Well, you didn't bring a drum mat, but at least you brought your own roadie!" And as for the messed up fingers.. I would ROUTINELY eff them up.. every practice. After posting on the boards, the simple suggestion of wiping my hands off between songs to keep them dry has kept me blister free. I don't play with any less aggression (actually more now due to some new songs).. I just keep them dry!!
Members Jarick
I always get a blister on my hi-hat hand playing live shows. I have no ability to dial down the intensity. But you never got blisters/callouses from playing as a kid? I remember when I was about 13 and started putting on some muscle that I had a summer of taping up my fingers to play 2-3 hours a day.
