Members 1001gear
Ok, my snare drum has been sounding lo fi and the usual reason for this is the snares have shifted. I use strapping tape which is pretty stable but after several years and many changes in wire tension, the snares get misaligned. Anyway, good chance try the Grosgrain that's been on the shelf for the last couple years. AND... It's pretty good stuff. The drum with no other changes than the ribbon and careful alignment sounds airier and snairier. Haven't banged on it yet but so far the toan is happening. Also I have a little less than 17' left which for you guys can be had precut for a dollar plus handling or $15 for the roll shipped.

Members 1001gear
What do you guys do about fraying? I taped up the ends. And does this stuff stretch?
Members BeakerArk
nope, doesn't stretch, not that I've ever noticed. As for the fraying, I just melt the ends w/ a lighter.

Members 1001gear
Might be cutting my teeth with it. It's Offray brand - hah, there's a fray and a off in there lol from WalMart. Comes apart as soon as you start sawing.

Members BeakerArk
Also, if you cut it on an angle, it won't fray.
Members cearleywine
I have a roll of medium brown with green dots on one side. Haven't had issues fraying but I'd certainly burn it if I did.
