Members xtranoise
Any favorite brand or type? Any particular one you find to be most realistic? All I have is the old Gladstone (think that is what it's called) that came with my first snare back in the 70's.
Members FitchFY
The only pad I've ever used that felt realistic to me was the Remo tunable drum pad because it actually had a head, rim, and was tuned for tension. All other practice pads (Well, gross general statement, but you know what I mean) are normally some type of rubber, which feels different. But hey, as long as you're practicing on something! Members Carminemw
I use the Gladstone at the studio on all the drums... I use the Pace pads at the studio as well as my mirrored set. And at home I've used the new Pat Petrillo pad The differnt feels are very nice...

My first practice pad was that tilted slab of wood w/inner tube overlay. The only type (?) at the time. Used to bang at it but seemed pointless. Then I got a Remo practice set and was sold. Still have a couple of those 40 yr. old pads! Got a fresh one a couple years ago and they changed it to sound like a marching drum Even at literally zero tension, it had that clicky attack. Turns out there's a big kick drum sized white dot in there lol. Took that out; plays/sounds fine now. Cemented the dot to my kick drum head. Even ier. lol

Members danrothmusic
I dig the different surfaces on the Petrillo pad. The Remo pads are nice too. Both feel pretty realistic.
Members BeakerArk
I still have my first Remo pad. I got the Petrillo pad at the drum jam and really dig it.

Members The Downbeat
I'm rocking a Vic, but it's made for a marching feel.
Members D Carroll
I've got the remo, but I stopped using it. The music room is almost dead silent from outside, so I see no point in not playing a snare.
