I've been playing guitar for almost ten years now. Always wished I could sing, but am rather shy and the few times I record my voice I want to instantly hit the delete button - even though I'm the only one hearing it.

Anyways. I was just curious if I were to post a clip of something I am tooling around with if I could get A) Some funny jokes thrown my way B) Some basic tips to start with C) Exercises to do.

Sure, bring it on.

Some tips:

1. Set the track up for streaming rather than download. You'll get more of a response if folks don't have to download your track in order to listen.

2. It's good form to stick around and offer responses to others who post tracks.

Looking forward to hearing you!

Well luckily for whoever might be perusing through here...I'm mildly intoxicated and it is the internets. I can laugh at myself because I know I have no idea what I'm doing. Thats okay - I remember when I first started playing guitar and how that went!! :rawk:

Did I mention this is the second or third time I've ever tried singing in the 24 years I've been around?

My first impression is that you have a nice sounding voice and your acoustic guitar sounds great. It sounds to me that you are not always singing on key. Perhaps by playing the melody of the lyrics note by note on your guitar and singing along, trying to match the pitch you can learn to sing the notes exactly on pitch. I sing along with keyboard scales; this exercise helps me sing on pitch.

i like the minor sound. too much crap is in major keys. its got that 4-b6-5-1m thing gong on. reminds me a little of some of the acoustic Jon Crosby/VAST stuff.

anyway, it's not that great, but you can tell there's a good song trying to get out. as soon as you reached for any of the "higher" notes (they're not really high in actuality though) you lost control and got all breathy. This is simple to fix after doing some vocal exercises for like a week (like nay nay nay) - like on a brett manning or roger love cd.

also do that crap sober.
