  1. Hey! What's Going On Here?- Departmentstore Santas
  2. Last Beach Crusade- The Enfields I'm a big booster for this little-known 60's band from Delaware. Hypermelodic in a vaguely Left Banke way, moody, jazzy, psychedelic, but mostly totally unique and their own thing. Not a bad song on the CD comp.
  3. Lots of hit "eyes" songs- I hope we mine this one.
  4. Looking Through Gary Gilmore's Eyes- The Adverts YES keep it on eyes, there's a lot of good ones!
  5. Mr. Hush, you supply some great posts here, and are maybe the king of keeping the ball rolling. But using a part of a word, or a word imbedded in another word, or in this case, an abbreviated version of a name is kinda borderline to the rules of the game- yes? No? maybe? Great song nonetheless
  6. Black Randy and the Metro Squad- San Francisco Dedicated to my home town
  7. Was driving on a two-lane country road through Valley Forge, in Sonoma County in Ca., and the person driving said "I hear Tom Waits lives around here somewhere". Right on cue, we passed by a debris-strewn yard and old farmhouse right up against the road, and a quick flash of the man himself, dressed in a tight dark suit, standing next to a rust-covered vintage 40's coupe, with a stunning brunette in a clingy blue dress standing there too, in the overgrown weeds. Well.
  8. Why Did You Rob Us, Tank?- The Raik's Progress Don't mean to hog the trough, but I had to slip this title in while we're still on "Why?"
  9. Gene Clark- Why Not Your Baby I could have chosen a song with a more widely-applicable title from his many wonderful albums, but really feelin' this one tonight. Anyone that likes Flying Burrito Brothers should love his solo stuff. Masterful writing, unique lyricist, heartbreaking emotion.
  10. Over Under Sideways Down- The Yardbirds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlcRn_rn8Vc
  11. Ha ha I got a "like" and then they "unliked" it! If someone needs something "likable", check out that Barbara Lynn performance on the last page
  12. Embarrassingly sexist in retrospect but damn if it isn't epic, gorgeous and my top 5 childhood favorites.
  13. Woman- Anti-Nowhere League Going with this one 'cause it barely beat Styx, and I love that Four Tops song, and I'll bet we could reach 2,000 easy with "woman"... and this song is classic (if unforgivably sexist and juvenile!).
  14. F- No I nominate myself for Emperor of Minimalism with this entry. (also in the running for Most Obnoxious Offerings)
  15. Everything I leaned about love, I learned from Al Green, on the AM radio, being driven to school. Such a sweet take on romance.
  16. I Caught the Milk Train, She Took the Deux Chevaux- The Waves [video=youtube;y1-CwGOe208]
