I really don't watch TV. Maybe 2 hours per week and that basically nothing but news on my lunch break. I'll watch the occasional House, South Park, and whatever catches my eye on the Discovery Channel, History Channel, or Science Channel.
I'm kind of the same way with books. I've only read around 4-5 fiction books, but the rest, 20+, are all non-fiction; mainly about Mathematics, Physics, and Astronomy on occasion. And yes, Stephen Hawking really is in my library.

Hmm... Give Ergo Proxy a shot, you may like it. Very intelligent series. There's also Ghost in the Shell you may have an interest in. Then again you could always try Evangelion, the first half most likely wouldn't interest you as it's pretty typical at the start but the last half of the show is very dark and psychological. Most people whom watch Evangelion in one sitting aren't themselves for a few days.
