  1. Haha yeah. Surprise work secks! It needed to be done for future ones, but doing it in a week was a bitch. But yeah, that's life, sadly. Oh well, with the overtime I actually might get a new computer. My current desktop is only 6 years old. haha Overtime!? Lucky bastard 6 years? I actually got lucky and was able to replace both my 5yo desktop and almost 8yo laptop earlier this year. I'm sure both of these will have to last me (maybe with small upgrades like memory or video card) for another 5+. I'm probably going to turn the old one into the family computer at some point. Though it's hosting print services and I'm lazy and don't want to change that out right now.
  2. Well I just turned in my time card and it was 60. But I also worked off of the clock about 5 hours too. I guess I was 5 off. But yeah. We had a controller being shipped out and it needed a new feature. And guess who was the one to add it? The day before we were suppose to ship it, we find out it needed something added, that wasn't stated very clearly by the customer. Heh, I love that. Oh, by the way, here's some super important thing we need but didn't tell you about and it just has to be in there. About as much fun as management that thing, "oh it'll be what, a week?" for that multi-month project.
  3. Turned out it was a 70 hour work week. oohhhh sounds fun. At least mine where from 8:00 on, every weekday. 70? Ouch. Though it might not have been as painful if you were pulling about 10 a day for 7 days. That does wreak havoc on the social life, though. Having it strung out among multiple days is definitely easier. I've had those weeks and I'd probably rather have those than feel like a zombie at the end. I haven't had any really bad work strings in a while. Usually that involves either server migrations to new hardware or patching on a panic deadline (like DST).
  4. 60 hour work weeks are fun! I had about that a couple weeks back. It started with a 2:30am wake up call Sunday morning that ran until 3am Monday morning. A 24-hour day is bad enough. A 24-hour day on 3 hours sleep sucks Got Monday off, at least, but still managed around 60. I forget the exact number now.
  5. god bless you I do what I can
  6. Apparently the Koreans don't want the Japanese to have all the zany whackyness.
  7. Make a thread here. There needs to be more ot anyway. But he wouldn't get many replies
  8. So uhhh... what the hell happened on ebassist? Finally had a chance to check and... forums down for the rest of the day to let people cool off? o.O

Also, not one single thread on Osama bin Laden? Seriously? What's going on around here? I'm extremely disappointed... Well... basically there was a multi-day forum outage which got a few people leaving. After that, things settled down a bit and then the higher ups decided that they duct tape and bandages software they had for their forums would be best replaced. The HC 2.0 forums were born. Problem is, they replaced it with software that was utter crap... but at least it also looked like utter crap as well. The mass exodus occurred at that point. They eventually backed off the "2.0" software and went back to the old software. At some point, they ended up upgrading the forum software to something a bit less crappy. Of course, by the time that occurred, the place was a ghost town. Most moved to Ebassist, Musician-Central, or maybe Talkbass (though I always got the impression a lot of the HC folks just weren't TB type people).
  10. What happened, did someone set us up the bomb? Yeah, pretty much. HC went through some forum nightmares. Things went wonky, then they upgraded us to new software which sucked balls. Eventually they moved us back, then just upgraded to a newer version of that ( I think). By then, though, people had moved on. The bass crowd's split between Ebassist, Musician Central Bass Forum, and the remnants here. Not sure about others, though I recall that the Guitar Effects forum here had a migration to MC as well. A few of us pop in here now and then to see how it's going and look around, somewhat sadly, at the old place.
  11. Still quiet around these parts. Shame what happened to the place.
  12. So... this new interface? It's not 2.0 ugly... but it could use some work.
  13. And now we're un-stickeyed? Make up your minds, people!!! Indecisive mods are indecisive, I guess? Sigh. And almost a month without a post. Granted, it's been at least that long if not longer since I was here. Oh well. Shame this place went downhill with attendance plummeting.
  14. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was awesome. First of all, the protagonist is a bassist in a bad-ass band. Second of all, the whole movie takes place in Toronto. Third of all, it's probably the most original idea for a movie I've seen in over a decade. Fully recommended for your viewing pleasure. One of the local radio stations was interviewing the main bad guy. The movie sounds like a load of fun. I'd love to see it but... given 2 kids, movies usually come in the form of rentals from Blockbuster (too rare to bother with Netflix) that the oldest can also watch. Movies outside that are a rarity right now
  15. I really hate when Life comes by and gives you a punch in the gut, and then, when you're doubled over in pain, creeps up behind you and gives you a swift kick in the ass for good measure. I think they call that the Double Whammy. Wow, I haven't checked in on HCBF in a while and I see this. That sucks. I hope things improve for you and stay that way. You've had too much {censored} go on for a while. I think you've earned a long, long break from {censored}ed up stuff.
  16. Heh, 1.0 comes back and posting is well up. Coincidence? Now I'm wondering if they're going to do another database import for the next round of 1.0 > 2.0 attempts. I can see that becoming oh so fun.
  17. 2 hours of grilling. That was with 2 of us. Several pounds of chicken, 3 beef tenderloin and a load of various vegetables. Every time my brother-in-law and I thought we were done, out came our niece with another round of things to grill. At least everything turned out well. Granted, even feeding 15 people, everyone took home a huge amount of leftovers. I've been lead to think that you just can't have a meal with a Korean family without lots of leftovers. Half the quantity would have been sufficient
  18. Weird week. My cousin's soon-to-be wife went into early labour and had a baby the day before her brother's funeral (he died of an overdose). The funeral was very strange for many reason, but most of all because I got to use the phrase, "Congratulations, so sorry for your loss," when I spoke to their mom. Strange day. The paparazzi didn't help the situation either... You get some of the strangest stories to tell
