if you really want to mprove the sound quality of CD. Increase Bit depth and the bit rate. Both would go along way.

There are many good functional DAW's that work as good or better and offer a much broader compatability matrix. I give protools a big thumbs down. You seem really happy with it now...what changed your mind? Can you please elaborate. I want to know what other equipment you may think is better or just as good. I have never changed my mind about protools. I recently got a M powered device that included protools. I use it only to export from it. I don't use protools for any of my work.

I don't hate Christians. I just don't like the bad attitude from these people that think everything is a competition. They ask me what my house looks like, knowing it is not re-modeled from speaking to my landlord...and seeing it from the outside. They just like to make people feel badly about not having material things.... They were invited into my home and they said no....twice.. They put down everything I own and my whole personal life... It is a shame they moved in... I don't own the home, so I will be moving .... Art is not a competition....it is just a medium for enjoyment and pleasure and many people think it is a competition. Some people who claim to be holy can't enjoy life because it is considered evil.... I am just enjoying getting down to business with some music in my home... They are not enjoying life because they are concerned about appearances and their ultra clean and perfect life...their perfect home.. My neighbors before them were not claiming to be christians but didn't give off their snotty vibe.... I will try not to let it bother me...I want to enjoy life.... some people don't like to see others happy with what they have. I think I have alot to be grateful for. Sorry for your luck. start burning 100ft tall crosses in your yard on saturday nights. That'll shut them up. My neighbors in general are on their high horse..they are Christian..they just moved in. They have been giving me dirty, uppity looks that spell intolerance since they moved in. They ask me what my house looks like and when I invite them in, they say no. All they talk about is materialism and fixed their house up. I said how wonderful their house looks....but they look at me like I am from Mars. Their son majored in recording engineering and like their parents...he is sneering at me. I never sneered at them. They tell me that everyone is an artist and they don't believe that some people are not artists. They believe they are artists even though they don't paint, draw, play music etc..etc... BTW....it is HER set up..not HIS...I am a her. They seem really holy. Don't they sound like it..ahahaha:lol:

I still find myself saying that alot but I can almost get the sound I want now with minimal trouble these days. First thing I sit in the mix and many others find it very helpful. The bass drum. start stacking on top of that. Bass drum,bass guitar,rythm guitar snare,vocals then I add things like toms, hi hats etc. I also now keep a mind ahead of time towards things like I have learned from experimenting quiet alot. Like I know I like to start slopping the guitar bottom end away around 250-200hz. Then I totally kill it most times at 150hz. Gotta make room for the kick drum and bass guitar. There a few good starter rules of thumb to get a mix working. well considering that when the old approach existed, i basically knew nothing about mixing and just changed random levels until it sounded ok to my inexperienced ears at that time. i started doing research and reading different sources, and i realized i had no idea what i was doing

I think the recording Major just likes to make himself feel better about his investment into his gear and thats about it.

I can easily spot MP3 audio upto about 250kps. Its not the cymbals either. There are digital artifacts that encode all over the sound and if you really hate them "Like I do" and you have a logorythmic functioning mind "Like I am cursed with" then it is very easy to here MP's upto about 250kps. I'd say most people can't here it much above 128kps btw. I doubt the majority of people can identify it at 64kbps. I agree. Cymbals are how I identify mp3s.

I can here small difference between the 2 but at the moment I am not anywhere near good monitors. I will relisten later when I get some time.as for which is better. Well thats gonna take monitoring equipment I may not have acess to.

agreed Way too boomy, askew levels because of it. Remember that you can automate the bass if you want it front and center for particular parts of the song. It's crushing everything right now.
