  1. Strat Rocker - Im not too sure how to "open" the drums up more. Could you please give me some more advice on this. If you're using drum samples instead of an actual mic'd kit there may not be a whole lot you can do. If you have compression on the drum track, try changing the compression ration to somewhere around 8:1. If you're not using a compression on the drums then about all you'll be able to do to open up the drums is tweak the EQ by adding some high-mid and highs and giving the drums a light reverb. I'm not saying the drums sound bad, you can hear them well. I would just like a little more dynamic space to them. The definition of dynamic being loud hits sound louder and soft hits sound softer. You do that by lowering the compression ratio.
  2. I listened to it, I liked it a lot. The guitars are nice and full. The people on Garageband.com may be talking about the high frequencies you have on the guitars. How did you mic the guitars and what amps are you using? It almost sounded like modeling which can give you the extra high frequencies. The drums are compressed a little more than I like to hear. I'd like to hear you open them up a little more for some better dynamics. I definitely don't think the mix is "too clean" and I don't think it's overproduced either. It sounds a lot like the new Ayreon album and I like it. Those doofus's on Garageband don't know what they're talking about.
  3. If they're a professional and they say they don't use any "Studio Magic" (i.e. Pitch Correction Software) they're lying...
