Members lpwcruzr
Ok, I decided to put some seymour duncan pickups in my les paul. After opening it up I see that the current dimarzio pickups are wired different than what the seymour duncan diagram says. I have a les paul with the tone and vol controls mounted in a ground plate. I'm wondering which way I should wire these? does anyone have a wiring diagram for a les paul with the ground plate? I can not seem to find a les paul diagram on the net. Members cratz2
I can not seem to find a les paul diagram on the net. You didn't really look, didja! http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/ http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/Electronics/Wiring_diagrams/i-1217.html http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22les+paul+wiring%22&btnG=Google+Search&cts=1236937801564&aq=f&oq= There are two main wiring schematics. One where the volume controls are interactive when the switch is in the mid position - that is to say, if you put the switch to the middle, and turn either of the volume controls all the way down, there will be zero output from the guitar. The other schematic lets the volume controls to work independently.
Members lpwcruzr
I looked at the seymour site and it is different from my stock les paul wiring. That's why I'm trying to find something that shows a les paul with the grounding plate like mine. I wanted to make sure mine was wired up right, before I swap out the pickups. Someone has already swapped out the pickups on this guitar once.
Members cratz2
Does it ground to the bridge AND a grounding plate? If it just grounds to a plate, I'd look at the schematics as is, but ground to the plate rather than the bridge that almost all schematics will reference. Other than the grounding plate, is the actual wiring dramatically different than anything the SD or StewMac pages show? There's a lot of variety there so if yours is much different, I'd say you have something pretty creative going on in there.
