Members pink floyd cramer
I appreciate those advising a shotgun or shotgun pistol for self-defense. I used to hunt (more accurately, vaporize) small game with a single-shot 12 gauge. But (in order to actually have some meat left to clean) I switched over to a Glenfield-Marlin 22 rifle. The squirrels would climb down to the lowest hanging branch and give me the finger while I emptied all 15 or so rounds without success. So I'm a crappy shot. How much worse under the extreme duress of having to deal with an intruder breaking into your house? So I have always scratched my head at so many experts recommending a handgun or something you actually had to aim.
Members ermghoti II
I bet those squirrels were more than six feet away (the average range of a defensive shooting).

Yes, a little, but I neglected to mention they were HUGE, mutant squirrels, or maybe neighborhood troublemakers in squirrel suits- I don't really remember (been so long ago). Members ermghoti II
Oh, definitely shotgun, then, or better yet, the minigun or even BFG, just stay out the blast radius.
