Members cincy_cosmo
Hello, I bought a new VG Strat yesterday, as they have been MD'd and the price is low to close them out. I got it home and started the setup task, first step being peeling off the protective tape on the pickguard. After getting the tape off the pickguard, I found it left a sticky residue all over the pickguard. Any ideas on the best way to get the goo off? I don't want to ruin the pickguard. I'm thinking rubbing alchohol, but figured someone out there has done this before...thoughts?

Members flummox
You won't ruin it with alcohol, but Goo-Gone works much better and is just really handy stuff to have around anyway.

Members cratz2
Any tone difference of leaving the goo on than wiping it off? I heard that on the VGs, if you leave the goo on, positions #2 and #4 are more syrupy, but you lose the quack. Seriously though, I'm 99% sure Goo Gone will work but I'd try to keep it off the body as in my experience, Goo Gone is kind of hard to clean off of a finished body. Ironic as that is. Members unworthy
I always keep Goo-Gone around the house, but I've found that Mineral Oil/Baby Oil works great for that particular type of goo. D
