Members diabolusnmusica
Is there an advantage or difference between the flat heel used on telecaster necks versus the rounded heel used on a stratocaster neck? Is there a difference in tone, stability...or is it just "the way Leo did it" or aesthetics?
Members Offday
Pics please, I have a '90's MIJ strat with a rounded heal but haven't really seen any new ones with the rounded heal, they're the same as the tele heel.I assume your refering to an older strat, I'm not sure but I think the roundedheel was a MIJ thing. More for playability accessing the upper frets.stabillity I think is the same. they are both 4 bolt necks.
Members DaleH
I think he means at the butt of the heel pocket. It makes no differece.
Members JohnnyR
The Strat was supposed to make all Tele players feel that their guitar was obsolete and buy the new one. The rounded neck/fingerboard was one of Leo's "improvements"...that made no difference in tone/playability. J.R.
Members Wyatt
Purely aesthetics.
Members MichaelSaulnier
A tele is tough. It's made crudely for people to use as a blunt force instrument... either playing or swinging. One whap with a tele, and you KNOW you've been whapped! A strat is an elegant machine, made to comply with your every sonic wish. A scapel instead of a shovel. Members Pope on a Rope
The Strat has a rounded neck heel which will give it a rounder tone while the flat Tele heel gives you flatter tone.
