Good choice on the Artcore. I played an AS73 and was really impressed. So much so I bought an AS83. Sounds and plays identical to the AS73 just has that flame maple thing going on. I have a Dot deluxe. It is my least played guitar. Not crazy about the Epi fatty neck plus it looks and feels like it was dipped in plastic. The Artcore just feels like a better quality guitar to me and the sound is far better that the Dot with the stock pickups.

I bought an artcore AM73B about a year ago and put a Duncan hot rodded set in it. Its now my main stage guitar, and has been since. Its pretty much become my staple to replace my old strat that was dubbed "Crotchenstein" by alot of people from old home town. (Strat ive played on for years that has 3 Duncan hot rails, an LSR roller nut, and had a bigger trem block put in. Lots of nicks on it, not to mention big staple keep a warped pickguard down to the bodies from keeping the neck pickup from hitting the low E string. My nickname was always Philmycrotch hince the guitars name Crotchenstein). Anyways the AS73 is a terrific guitar, ive tried many axes and none have statisfied this punks ears like it. And stock pickups were great but the Hot Rodded set is more suited for what im doing, more rockabilly/punk sort of playing.

When I first started looking at semis I thought for sure I would get a dot. Never got on with the neck though. Not only is it thick the finish on the ones I played felt tacky.

IMO the AS73 is a much better guitar than the dot. The neck is comfortable and the PUs were decent, though not great.

I was super close to picking up an AS73. They are really good guitars. But I ended up finding a used Epi casino for about $50 bucks more and went for it.
