Members poderoso
I bought an Epiphone Elitist Les paul Custom on ebay used and I just got it last night and notices that there are cracks around the neck. It looks like it's just the paint but I want to hear what you guys have to say. Someone said paint cracks on bolt on necks are common but this one is a one piece. And what causes these cracks around the neck? I tried showing the cracks in these pictures. These are light cracks and doesnt seem to affect playability. Is there any specific way to find out if it does affect the guitar's playability e.g. intonation, sustain?
Members ItchyFingers
I wouldn't stress about it. I have the same cracks on my Gibby Studio, been there for about a decade, and that thing holds its tuning no problem.
Members benricci
Just looks like hairline marks in the paint, not cracked down to the wood. It should be fine. It's not going to affect playability, sustain, intonation or anything else.

Members ExiledCrow
I think those are just finish cracks, but if you're really worried I can take it off your hands ... :poke:
Members atrox
It's cracked right were the neck meets the body. It's very common though. I see it on most Les Pauls I get in actually
Members guitarcapo
I think it's impossible NOT to get THOSE kinds of finish cracks over time...considering all the different materials meeting each other at those locations underneath... expanding and contracting with the humidity and temperature and settling at different rates, amounts and directions with age after the guitar is built. Members fistacuffs
That is the winters fault. the wood moved and the paint didn't no way to avoid that.
