Inexpensive Piezo for solid-body?

I kinda like how the hidden Piezo in the Parker Fly and Peavey Generation EX sounds, and I'm thinking of adding one to a project telecaster as a mod, but the only option I see out there is a bridge made by Fishman that costs more than what the entire Peavey guitar was going for at one point.

Anybody know of a good source to buy a cheap Piezo that will work with a solid-body guitar?

If under US$100 = cheap, then there isn't such a thing -- unless you go with used parts.

By the time you add the preamp and battery compartment with the transducer, it's going to be over $100.

So I guess by best option is to find a used Peavey for about $200, tear out the Piezo, and re-sell it as a generic Tele copy for $100, huh?

I guess I should have jumped on the liquidation of them when I had the chance last year.

If you're *real* lucky, you might run into some guitar repair person who's

removed a Tele / Strat piezo transducer system for someone and still has all

the parts. Otherwise, I wouldn't spend much time looking for a used piezo

system for a Tele.

The system I mentioned above is under $200 from Stewart-Macdonald. I'd

just set a goal of saving up for it and getting it, as you'd be a lot happier with

a new system like the GraphTech Ghost system. (PS: I believe the

GraphTech piezo system is what Peavey installed in the Generation EX you

were talking about.)

Here's the product line webpage for Strat, Tele, P/J-bass:

There's also an excellent demo video showing the GraphTech Ghost saddle

transducer system doing acoustic guitar and MIDI. The acoustic guitar demo

section shows up later in the video after the MIDI demo section.

The full-length video for this demo can be seen at:
