Members GreaserMatt
I really, really tried to like the strat I used to own('84 MIJ E code fender), but my ('99 am std) tele won my favor. It just feels right. I'm an offset guy at heart tho...
Members Alexbiscuit
but how many people that own a strat have a strat that actually sounds like one?

Members Special J
I have what I consider to be very nice examples of both a Strat and a Tele. Though I like them both, the Strat gets more play time. It's just a more versatile and comfortable instrument to me.
Members Steadfastly
I voted Tele but it's just because of the shape. Any tele can sound like a strat and any strat can sound like a tele if you switch the pick ups and the bridges.
Members photon9
Tele. Hands down. Every time.
Members eudaimonia02912
Strat. When I pick up a Tele, I automatically start trying to play country. I know they can do more than that, but my brain can't send that message to my hands.
Members csm
but how many people that own a strat have a strat that actually sounds like one? Huh? Well ... me, for a start. Whether or not it's Fender-branded, if it's carrying three single-coil pickups, it'll probably sound, to a greater lesser extent, pretty much like a Strat? Unless you mean post-Eddie things with 'buckers and Floyds ... in which case, not.
