Project Idea

Ok so I spotted a nice Gibson Les Paul Studio Body on the web with a really decent price.

Body only.

No hardware, p-ups, volume pots...etc

JUST the body.

I am really tempted to buy it to do a custom project.

(pick-ups, and install everything else by myself)

IS this something easy to do? I am a little handy but not a specialist...

I can solder pretty good...

Plus, if there are no strings...could the neck be crooked....since usually there is a lot of tension on it...

Thanks.

is it a Gibson body?

how is it just the body?

The necks are glued in,
so under what circumstances was the neck removed from the guitar?

I had the same question. The necks don't usually come out without damaging the body. I'd have to make sure the neck pocket was in good condition before jumping on that .

Replacing the hardware with like hardware is pretty simple.

Electronics on a LP are pretty simple.

No way to tell if the neck is straight or not until you actually have it in your hands. Just because the strings are off doesn't mean it's warped, and even if strings are kept on it all the time doesn't mean it's straight.

Oops sorry...my english is not perfect so...hehe.

Body + neck. Not separated...

A whole guitar....without the hardware.

Ah! No worries. Sounds like a good platform to do custom work then if everything else is fine. If you can ask for some better pics and make that it's not being sold because of issues; Neck cracks, poorly repaired neck cracks, fret issues etc.
