Ibanez Artist ?

Are you asking if it is an original Artist AR100 from 1981 (or a re-isssue), or are you asking if we think it's a legit Ibanez (and not a counterfeit), or are you asking if we think that the pickups have been changed-out?

Not that I have a good answer for any of these questions, but I just thought I could focus that question that you have.

Good luck in you quest.

I've always liked those guitars.

I'm a little surprised that the seller had the bridge, stop tail-piece and inserts removed from the guitar at some point--doesn't look like he tried to do any refinishing, so I wonder what the purpose was in doing that?

From the complete set of pics, I guess he's just a thorough guy.

Definite AR100 from 1981. A GREAT guitar.

Equipped with suregrip 1 knobs (keep them, they're about $80 apiece on ebay because they no longer produce them), pearl headstock design and logo, bridge and tailpiece with cloud and pickup covers are in great shape, no pitting.

Its missing the grommet from around the pickup switch but you can get a new one from a guy at Ibanez collectors to sells repros of them.

Don't feel bad about the aftermarket pickups, my Artist came with Duncans too but the Ibanezcollectors people would say that devalued it because someone drilled the original pickup rings that get adjusted on the left side of the pickup via two screws. Oh well.

Of the Duncans installed the SH4 is the JB model, SH2N is the Jazz model.

Great guitar. I love my AR300, welcome to the AR owners club. There's a Japanese website out there called the "AR Lovers Site" you might like but it's hard to understand if you are english only.

It's run by a guy named Hasenobu-san who has one heck of an encyclopedic knowledge of Ibanez guitars:

Click under "URL Link" to see individual guitars he's got pictures of and their types and approximate production date.

Here's one similar to yours:
