Hi,

I've been looking at some Hagstroms, and see that some of their models have 'resinator wood' fretboards. Having seen Martin fudge the meaning of plastic fretboards by calling them 'micarta,' I was wondering if anyone knows what 'resinator wood' is?

Thanks, and cheers,

Glenn

Sorry for digging up such an old thread, but for ayone considering buying a new Hagsrtom guitar, I have the true answer. I was looking at the mahogany Hagstrom HL550 and asked the same question. What is resinator wood on the fretboard? Well, this has been translated from Swedish, and here's your answer:

Resinator Wood:

Resinator wood is a dark wood composite materials laminated in multiple layers used in the fretboard on guitars branded Hagstrom . The material is said to be stronger, more homogeneous and stable than ordinary wood. According to the manufacturer, the material is approximately the same acoustic properties as Ebony of good quality, but avoid giving a balanced tone across the fingerboard and remove "dead" tones.
