Looking for opinions on the frequensator tailpiece....

I am curious about how these effect sustain and string tension etc. I have an Epi Dot Studio,

and I am thinking about putting one of these on. I am curious about how it will effect the playability, plus I think they look cool!

They do look cool. I have a Riviera Valensi, with the Frequensator, of course. I like it. I don't know that it will affect string tension vs. a stop tail, but you will get more of a sympathetic ring from other strings with it. Some people put rubber between the strings behind the bridge because of this; I don't find it necessary and kind of like the uniqueness of the trapeze sound and see it as characteristic of that type of guitar. I also have an SG with a stop tail; they are different animals. Won't change the playability; will change the tonal overtones slightly.

Cheers

The longer wrapped strings is dupposed to make the heavy strings slightly tighter. Has something to do with string length tuned to pitch.

I owned a riviera too and thought the frequensator was a key item in its tone, something you dont get with a Dot or Casino.

I have one of an old Teisco semihollow build that sounds better than the trapeeze I had on there. I want to put one on my DOT eventually and dump the stop tail.

I think it maight have better tone with one.
