Members burton4snow
In my Blackheart Little Giant one of the transformers is making a terrrible buzz. It sucks to play it now. Does this mean the transformer is getting ready to go? Is the only way to get rid of the buzz to replace the transformer? Help?
Members PrawnHeed
Which transformer? Is the buzz coming through the speaker or is it a mechanical thing?
Members burton4snow
It is coming just from the transformer in the head. It is the bigger transformer above the electrical plug.
Members PrawnHeed
That's the power transformer. Try tightening the screws that hold it to the chassis and the bolts that hold the transformer together.

Members PrawnHeed
Magnetostriction is a common source of buzzing in transformers - they all buzz a bit. If you are hearing it, then there is something mechanical making the noise.

Members PrawnHeed
If you are not comfortable working inside the amp, take it to a tech.

Members Steadfastly
Just replace the transformer. They'll do this as they start to go. It's very easy to do. Just take the old one out making sure you mark the wires, with tape is the best way and wire the new one the same as the old. Bye, bye, buzz.
