When you play by yourself, do you play differently?

I tend to do the whole playing rhythm along with leads thing when I'm playing by myself, often hitting a lot of strings to create drone and volume. I rarely play single notes when I'm playing on my own, unless I'm practicing a scale or whatever. When I have a bassist and a rhythm guitar player, though, I end up doing more straight leads and not try to fill space as much. Honestly, I prefer playing more if it comes down to one or the other, but I enjoy both approaches. Do you play the same or differently when there are other people around?

Can you explain?

Not really because after that part I close my eyes, bite my lip, and let the "stranger" work her magic.

It's one of those "you had to be there" thing.

but nobody's ever there, otherwise I wouldn't have replied to your thread

duh!!

He plays a lot of Billy Joel tunes, of course.

I lol'd.

Unless I'm practicing school-related music stuff I'm usually trying to write when I play alone these days. Then again that school stuff eats up a good half of my play time these days. So I guess usually, I'm either writing or practicing when I play alone.
