Members OMTerria
Just curious, because I really like the way the J Mascis plays. If I went that way I could throw the money I'd save toward a Thinline Tele. The Jazzmaster is the priority though
Members honeyiscool
Sure. They have near identical specs.

Members yanktar
But is it worth the extra skrilla? I've yet to get my hands on a J.Mascis so all I can go on is pictures.1) The CP has a locking trem and a screw-in rod. JM doesn't, and pop-in rod.2) The CP has a traditional truss rod pocket. JM has head stock access3) Both use the Gibson style bridge but the JM's is reversed from the CPs4) While both use slotted tuners, I'm not sure the JM uses the Fender tradtional ones5) It looks like the pickups are different, and from descriptions like Phil's I'm guessing the CP has a richer, fuller sound.6) "Fender" vs "Squier" (does it matter?)7) CP comes in black or 3 color sunburst with a brown pick guard. JM white with gold pick guard. Is it worth the $800 (I got mine for $700) vs $379? I do not know the answer, but I love my CP.
Members Doctor Morbius
Haven't played a Squier JM Jazzmaster yet, but am looking forward to checking them out. I used to have a Classic Player Jaguar (should have kept it) that played great - even better than the more expensive AVRI Jags I've owned because of the fixed neck pocket angle, fretboard radius and fret size. I prefer the more modern specs.
