Members burton4snow
Looking for a good tube amp combo and it has come down to these two. I play blues to hard rock. Not really in the metal territory. I like the just breaking up blues growl not sure if Blackstar can do that.
Members blind radish
I owned both at the same time ... I sill have the blues jr.Both great amps. The blackstar can get where you want to go with a bit of knob twiddling. For the blues jr., that's its reason to live. The blackstar as a much wider palatte of tones ... but despite the fact that its a tube amp, IMHO it does not sound quite as pure tubey tone as the jr.The jr. also kills the BS when it comes to how loud it sounds and feels. YMMV

Members PrawnHeed
If those are the only choices, then definitely the Blackstar. However, I'd prefer a Laney LC15, VC15 or Ampeg GVT15 to the Blackstar.
