Rental Issues in Los Angeles

Hey guys, I'm a long time poster from a couple other forums here and figured I'd give it a shot in this one too, but I need to rent a professional keyboard on the fly (by Wednesday) in Los Angeles.

I know a few heads at S.I.R. but unless I absolutely have to, don't want to rent from them. I need a board to use for a studio work audition that just came up, so my priority isn't to rent the name, it's to rent the equipment, and to do it as responsibly as I can with my finances. I'm a long time keyboard player but wasn't anticipating immediate work, since my main angle is vocal, and just kinda ended up with two days to get a pro board for an audition.

Just hoping someone might at least know a few places I could call...I'm willing to look at anything, just want to make sure I check as many options as possible with the time constraints.

Have you tried SSR, Absolute Rentals or Studio 116? I generally think of them as PA and recording gear houses, but I believe they may have stage gear as well...

Third Encore in North Holly wood I believe rents Keyboards as well.

There is Keyboard Concepts, too...I know they do one day rentals, but I don't know what they have on hand.

Specifically, what kind of keyboard(s)are you needing to rent?

Good luck with the audition!

btw, thanks for stopping in...apparently we're neighbors...I'm up in Chatsworth...:thu:

Hey thanks!

Thanks so much for the leads too...I found out today and called around but couldn't find much for rental. Being that it's a pretty small world out here, I'm hesitant to go to fellow LA musicians asking about rental...with 12 years of classical training and work, I should own a pro board (and will) but can't lock that down by Wednesday. Didn't want to have the project drift away from me over concerns about gear, since it's the last thing to worry about when work is at hand. Been here four months and haven't needed to buy or rent gear, so this was REAL sudden.

It's funny how a huge metropolis like LA is such a small world though...I'm right near Roscoe Blvd so we can't be too far away.

Specifically with the keyboard, I'm going to be laying down organ/clavinet/electric piano so almost anything with a light action and a few usable sounds for those is all I need. Don't need an actual Hammond organ or the flashiest synth workstation...just something to tote into the audition to meet professional standards.

well, let me know how it turns out...our ex-drummer was in the rental biz, and I was in the roadcase biz, which is how I knew some of these places, tried to keep it close to the Valley for ya..:thu:
