Scalloping

I've done it plenty of times, just takes a lot of concentration and preferably some woodworking experience. You'll need to protect those frets with tape or similar, as they will get damaged if you don't pay enough attention. Use files to carve out the wood.

 

Thanks I will try it if I work up enough courage to do so.

I see... but don't you have to be careful with how hard you push the strings? You gotta be able to get some microtonal stuff, like in Indian music

I'm no Gorilla-Gripper,& play 9's,so the pressure isn't an issue for me.

Might actually try 10's on the next one,all your bends/microtones are smoother & the slightly increased tension might be OK,too.

An old bud of mine played an Ibanez with the Traintrack fretwire with 11's,it was about as close as I've come across to a scalloped feel.

Not too bad,coming from a 9's guy,actually...
