Did you ever use gasline fittings and plastic tubing with a tom tom? This is something I did about 20 years ago. You screw a gas fitting into the breathing hole on your tom tom. You must have both skins on the tom tom. While playing on the tom, you blow into the tube to raise the pitch of the tom. It makes for very interesting drum solos.

Dude, have you been huffing gasoline? ;)

I've never heard of that, never thought I'd hear anything like it and I'm shocked that I just heard this! lol! Interesting indeed. I'm envisioning a few passed out drummers. How much air would it take to fill a 16" floor tom!! :D

Pictures?

I DIDN'T say gasOline fittings. I said GAS LINE fittings! I'm talking about NATURAL GAS here. Of course you could probably just stick the tube into the drum and make it airtight with SILICONE sealer. When you are done playing with it the silicone can PROBABLY be peeled off. Keep in mind that I didn't do this with my best set of drums, just a my first SILVERTONE 13 '" tom. You are right. It is much harder to make the pitch change with the floor tom.

this sounds really interesting, how much pressure is required from your lungs?

ie: does it take a lot of blowing to change the pitch or would just mild breaths change it noticeably?

could you do it on the floor tom or would that be too big and require too much pressure?
