Members slummy
Anybody have any experience with Slicknut cymbal fasteners? Looks like Mike Portnoy is using them. Do they mess up the threads on the cymbal stand?
Members thelegacy
my teacher uses them, they work fine, i don't believe they mess up the threads, they are damn pricey- 12 bucks a piece
Members drmrdude
I think they are silly. It takes all of 10 seconds to screw on a wingnut.
Members danrothmusic
I don't think they're worth the money. I've tried something like that before, and it was...meh.I guess if you have a plethora of cymbals, it would save time in the long run, but it's nothing special
Members Zeromus-X
Looks like a great idea to me. Ten seconds spinning a wingnut means I get out of the gig a minute faster. Also looks like they'll lock with a hex key, which is good since we play two nights in a row and my typical method of putting a black sheet over the kit isn't real "secure". Members 1001gear
I use aquarium tubing and a plain hex nut just to hold the tube on. Cymbals pop on and off. That's it.
Members xush
the Sliknuts are great. Since they just pop off you're less likely to drop them on a dark stage like nuts- I love them. Has definitely improved my setup/breakdown process. They haven't damaged my stands. ... Also looks like they'll lock with a hex key, which is good since we play two nights in a row and my typical method of putting a black sheet over the kit isn't real "secure". The hex key just tightens the nut onto the cymbal post so it won't pop off unintentionally when you hit the cymbal. You can still easily remove the sliknut just by pushing in the button and pulling the nut off the post. Not an effective security measure I'm afraid- but it does keep the nut on the stand when you're playing.
