Members viic
Ill copy and paste some of this from another post I made: My friend is selling me a bass drum, the two toms, floor tom, from a Pearl Custom Export (he says the heads are fine and one tom is missing a reso head) the seat and also 2 stands, I think he said they were DW. There is no snare drum or stand, and no bass padal, but I think I coul get a pearl one for about $25. I would be paying about $285 for this with the pedal included, however I want to know what do you think about the set and the deal in general. What is holding me back is the though of all what is left to buy, Ill need a hi-hat and the stand, snare/stand, and the other cymbals. And also someone one here recommended me to buy it on craiglist for maybe the same price but with all the things included, ready to play, downside is that there arent always good deals, it would be used, and I dont always have time to go to San Diego. So what do you guys recommend me to do, also for the question of the title, If I do buy the set from my friend, what woud be estimate I have to spend for all the missing stuff, assuming I dont want the cheapest stuff but I do want some good brand cymbals, but nothing very expensive, and a good snare for about $100, $130, maybe I should coonsider buying something used. Man, all this dru stuff is confusing, I think Im going to check my friend set tomorrow and I dont have alot of time to decide, thanks in advance

Members boxofrocks
I wouldn't buy an Export shell pack without a snare for that price. I'd give 100 bucks maybe. You can get a decent used kit for 3-400 if you look hard enough, and if you stumble on someone hard up for cash, you might even get some cymbals and stands. The seat is called a throne. I would advise against it, keep looking and check back here and these guys will hook you up with good advice..

Members faileddrummer
For a throne, you could always get this: http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibraltar-Oversized-Motorcycle-Seat-With-Backrest?sku=490753 Most comfortable thing my ass has ever touched. Snares are also expensive no matter what. If you're looking for used though, someone here found an Ebay auction for a Pearl snare for $30.
Members cearleywine
honestly, if those are truly DW stands that's where most of the cost is. Which I don't think it's a bad deal overall, but like others have mentioned you could probably get something more complete in that price range. Members drummer_bum
If possible, post pictures on here. He might be taking advantage of you, especially with those 'DW' stands.... If they were true DW 9000's, that would almost equal the cost of the whole set. Then again he could just be telling you that they're DW. Oh and that much for an Export w/ no snare, pedal, and cymbals = bad deal.
