Members Jersey Jack
There's a slight tension in the lower belly, but nothing like clenching or pushing or even tightening. That's how I experience it at least--a slight flex may be the best way to put it.
Members jvardon
ummmm.............not that i no of, normally.but i do contract really tight if i'm on my last gasp of air, usually if i'm singing i just give up before that because i think my audience would prefer silence to a wheezed-out last word. Members EightString
I never "clench up", but I do maintain firm support on the exhale.

If I run out of air a bit early, I’ll keep going and get the last word out, un-wheezed, not silent or skipping it, but then afterwards it almost feels as if my stomach/chest has a tiny flip flop over on itself as I breathe in again. Like it’s had some sort of spasm or something.
Members hugbot
I use it to dump the the tension that might go somewhere else otherwise, but I dont actively "tense" it.
Members ChrisAlgoo
My abs hurt when I perform - I think it's nervousness, though. It never happens during practice!
