Just got my Essex Jazz bass only week after I ordered it, amazingly fast service.

Opened up the case and there it was. Was amazed with the quality of the finish, havent seen any flaws.

Action was fine out of the box, only slight tuning needed.

The pickups sound fine, maybe little weak but will do for a while at least. The bridge is the only thing that looks cheap on this badboy, but I think I will replace it soon.

Also got a kick ass SX hat :D

And here come the pics.

Wow, a week to get to Iceland?

That's an awesome-looking bass. Much better than what the website shows, for sure.

What's with the "Custom Handmade" on the headstock for? Bragging rights? It's a $160 bass.

Maybe when they get a couple different colors I'll get one.

Yess, gray socks are always nice, and they go very well with the SX hat.

Is that real MOP inlay?

I'm not sure, is there any easy way to find out?

Wow (jaw drops, tongue falls out). Nice lookin' bass. So nice it almost doesn't matter how it sounds, but how does it sound?

It does sound pretty good, no need to switch out the pickups, at least not yet.

Clips?

The wood combination seems a little strange to me. How does it sound acoustically (unplugged)?

 Am I missing something here? What's odd about the wood combination, as you mentioned?

Forgot about the Geddy Lee. I've only played one, and it the setup was horrid.

I'd still like some clips. There are clips of the Geddy around here, but how much of that sound is from the Custom Shop pick-ups?
