Members Darkstorm
Tons of musical possibilties for playing various notes in chords and scales over chords. And the rest you mentioned. Suggests John Mclaughlins "This is how I do it" dvd set for most in depth learning to be had on the subject and for improv playing. Though created for and useing guitar, Most of its adaptable to bass if your willing to let it be. In really really simple terms can play any note or notes that work musically with the whole. Members SpaceGhost
Jonas Hellborg has a book by the name of "Chord Bassics", it should help you find ways to voice chords on bass.
