I'm heavy-handed and make no apologies for it. When one breaks, another one will within a gig or two, so that means it's time to change them out. I've broken two in a night. Members LO_RYDER
A set of strings, extra batteries, a screw driver and an extra cable. If you have good gear (and take care of it) thats all you need.
Members Pommes
I don't like gigging without a spare instrument. Strings are obvious, a battery if it's an active bass but I think thats about it. A spare amp - who even has one And cables - there are so many on each gig - if a cable really beaks, I think you can always use some else's. Members justinbass
strings, and a cord, and (eventually) a DI(I am in the market for one). I can't believe how much some of you bring along. I used to bring a backup bass, but after 10 gigs, it became wieght I'd rather not carry around. Now I just have broken-in strings in my case. Members james on bass
I have a tool box for my bass gear. Any screwdriver/wrench I could require for my basses, electrical tape, wire cutters, light bulbs (for the rack) rubbing alcohol, rags, batteries, penlight etc etc... More than on one occassion I've fixed broken cords for someone.
Members Cortfan
We have a spare everything in the trailer, including a bass. Myself, I bring my Cort bass, my Fender Musicmaster, a double stand, my POD 2.0, a fan, and a Korg tuner, and a Sabine backup. I used to bring spare strings, but keep giving them away to less fortunate bass players.
