Members Never_Grew_Up
OK, so I have a 1-15 bass cabinet with a port that runs the length of 1 side of the cabinet, perpendicular to the floor. Would turning it on its side so the port runs parallel to the floor, or the other way so it runs across the top make any difference? With it along the floor wouldn't the sound from the port be reflected off the floor?
Members Ace Of Bass
going from perp to para probably won't make any difference. facing up might. Why don't you try it?
Members dubwolf
I've got a bottom port on mine and have had it sideways a few times, never noticed any huge sound difference.
Moderators isaac42 Posted September 13, 2006 Moderators Share Posted September 13, 2006 Shouldn't make any difference. The wavelengths involved are much longer than the size of the cabinet, so, as long as the port isn't blocked, it should sound the same.
Members Mudbass
Port location makes no difference. Some cabs are even ported in the back.
