Members xOriginalNinjax
It's got barts, it can't be too horrid.
Members conor.meara
my first bass was an ibby sr305. looking back on it, that was quite the {censored}ty bass. but if you like it, that's all that matters. tom waits plays a 2 x 4 with strings tacked on and doesn't give a {censored}. Members The Admiral
I loved my SRX 705, very fast neck, but different electronics. I always loved fast ibby necks, until I fell in love with my Geddy Lee
Members been_effected
I have an older 405 model, and while its not the best ever, it does the job I've also played on a 505 and 900, and both are superb for the money you pay for them I'd take an Iby over a Yamaha anyday Just remember: Yamaha make motorbikes, not basses
Members BoundandBlocked
I have a SR505 last year before they started making them a darker brown. I love it. The neck is fast and comfortable. Remember, there is a big difference between the SR305 and SR505 (pickups, electronics, wood, body contour). Do you have any specific questions about it? And so do Nathan East, John Pattitucci(sp?), John Myung, and Billy Sheehan, none of whom ride motorbikes as far as I know. I think Yamaha makes a better bass, dollar for dollar, than Ibanez. The expensive Ibby's are great basses. The less expensive ones sound good by themselves, but with a band they get lost, IME. They seem to have a blandness to them (maybe I just don't like mahogany for basses), though its not as bad since they starting using the Bartolini p/u's. If you can try the Ibanez with a band and if you still prefer it, then go for it.
Members Darkstorm
That'd be my pick out of the SR series. Would prefer it had jumbo frets though is still nice for mediums. I difinately dislike the stock pj pups they use on the lower end SR's. But Barts are nice.
Members bassred
In their hayday the SR series wasn't an option to me, never played one that didn't feel 'stiff' if that makes any sense, just always felt like I was working too hard when I tried them out. if it floats your boat, though.... Yamaha makes many things, all of which are made well.
Members J.
I love the new SR505 basses with the exotic wood multi-laminate necks. They have a feel and a vibe that was (to me) completely absent in the old boring maple/rosewood model. I say get it.

Its just like anything else really, some people love them, some people hate them. Its your own individual taste. Yamaha are my pet hate. Give me an Iby BTB any day I'd go with the 505 mate, particularly with barts in it. Should be fairly versatile

I'd never even try a bass I didn't like the look of, and I've never seen a Yamaha I liked. Also, I don't give a damn who plays what. Namedropping means nothing to me. Members RollE
Thanks for all the replys. The main thing about my Yamaha is that the pickups hums when i have them soloed. Together they are quiet but if i just turn the blend nob a half millimeter the bass hums. Not acceptebel for me considering that neck pickup are "my" sound

I want a TRB1005. I also had a BB1500A that was a very solid bass. I'm sure there are some nice Ibanez basses too...
