Members orzklegbok
Greetings - I'm relatively new here, posted a little in a couple of the other forums. I am BOTH a guitar player AND a Bass player, and although I'm no great shakes on either, I do love them both! I've noticed that there are several great after-market Guitar pickup makers out there with some really great value for low money - like Guitar Fetish/GFS. ...and they get pretty great reviews, too. But I haven't been able to find something similarly inexpensive for a BASS guitar pickup. * Are Bass guitar pickups just fundamentally more difficult to make, and thus destined to be more expensive than guitar pickups? * Or, are there some Bass Pickup makers out there (that I haven't found) that make good pickups at low cost? (and, um, who are they? ) I don't consider myself a cheapskate, but neither am I made of endless cash - so I'm quite interested in quality (and variety) at a good price. These are the kind of prices I've found for P-bass and Jazz style replacement pickups: DiMarzio DP122 P-bass street $ 65.00 DP123 Jazz set street $119.99 Fender '62 P-bass list $ 89.99 street $ 69.99 custom shop '60's J-bass list $199.00 street $179.00 Noiseless - Jazz list $184.99 street $129.00 Basslines SPB P-bass list $ 93.00 street $ 64.95 Vintage Jazz list $ 83.00 times two street $ 57.95 times two Rio Grande Vintage 51 for P-bass $ 94.95 Muy Grande 51 for P-bass $109.95 Vintage for Jazz $ 59.95 times two My Grande for Jazz $ 74.95 times two Lindy Fralin 4 String P-Bass Humbucker $120.00 4 String Jazz Bass Pickup Set $ 80.00 times two Bartolini 8S Original Series - 4 String P-Bass Style Humbucker list $141.00 street $105.00 9J1-L/S Original Series - 4 String Jazz Bass Set list $176.00 street $132.

Ah, Sadowsky - I'd missed them, ...although they're priced comparably to most of the others I mentioned.
Members SB900LE
Don't know what kind of bass you're upgrading, but EMG Select pickups are a fantastic value for pickup upgrades (~$25) for el-cheapos basses like Squier, SX, etc. in my opinion; I used them in an Aslin Dane P-bass and love 'em. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Pickups:_Bass/EMG_Select_Bass_Pickups.html
