Yes, new beer day.

I have some friends coming over tonight, so I grabbed some new 6ers. Anyone here had Smuttynose before?

SHOALS PALE ALE

GOLD MEDAL WINNER - Best American Beer - 2003 Great British Beer Festival

"...the closest thing to an English ale in an American bottled beer." - Boston Globe, September, 1999.

Our interpretation of a classic English beer style is copper-colored, medium-bodied and highly hopped. Its flavor is delightfully complex: tangy fruit at the start, with an assertive hop crispness and a long malty palate that one well-known beer writer has compared to the flavor of freshly-baked bread.

Smuttynose Winter Ale

a full-bodied, amber beer brewed with a special Trappist ale yeast. Stylistically

reminiscent of a Belgian Abbey Double, it features fruity aromas and flavor, balanced by soft Crystal hops.

Warming, mellow & pleasantly complex, Smuttynose Winter Ale is your perfect cold weather companion.

Go with Dogfish Head or Magic Hat.

I've had most by both brewers.

I love me some Dogfish Head. Their Punkin Ale was my Fall beer of choice this year, and their IPAs are always good.

Most Magic Hat beers miss the mark.

If nothing else, the Smuttnose's have cool labels. :thu:
