Members james on bass
I've been out of work since August. I've had a few interviews with a company for a full-time night shift manager position. I was originally told it was Sunday night to Friday morning, which would be a great schedule. They called this afternoon saying the only reservation they had hiring me was the fact I play in a band and that the shift will actually be Monday night to Saturday morning and they don't want me using my holidays a Friday at a time for gigs. I told them not to worry as a career is more important than a hobby. I (and my family) need this job, but I'll more than likely have to quit my band since we're booked all year at 2 bars for full weekends. I feel almost sick to my stomach right now. I'm excited at the prospect of finally having meaningful employment again, but I may have to give up my band to do it.
Members FailBoatCaptn
maybe once you get this job and things settle down you can find a new band that suits your schedule and fits in with family & work?
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted January 22, 2009 CMS Author Share Posted January 22, 2009 Best of luck to you. I'll have been out a year this Friday, with only about 3 months of temp work in that time. All told, since I lost a 9-year position in April 2006, I've worked maybe 12 months. Do what it takes to get and keep that job.
Members james on bass
Do what it takes to get and keep that job. Oh, I will. As I am, you are mighty aware of just how {censored}ty the economy is right now. Hell, a company I almost took a job offer with last October, just shut it's doors a couple weeks ago. I need to work, but I love playing in my band.
