Members One Bad Monkey
If I was in the market for a new upright pickup, I'd get a Realist, hands down. The sound between the two is night and day; the Realist is nice and woody, very true to the bass. The Underwood seems a little muffled, and a tad "electric" sounding. If I recall, Ron Carter used an Underwood for many years.
Members solderjunkie
The Realist is the "Jazz Bass" of URB pickups. The Underwood is the "P Bass" of URB pickups. Take it however you want:poke:

Members bassman1956
How about the Moses/Lace magnetic pickup? Any one have any experience with them? I'm currious if this would do well paired with a Realist and a balance knob. Outside of requiring metal strings, any thoughts anyone?
Members brake
My teacher has the Underwood on his bass, and it sounds great. I suggest the Shadow: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Shadow-SH-965-NFX-B-Nanoflex-Upright-Bass-Pickup-Preamp_W0QQitemZ360135071282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar_Accessories?hash=item360135071282&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1215|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 The only one I can say for sure that you should stay away from is Fishman. I have a BP100 on my bass and it sounds decent, but I have a nice real wood bass and that isn't the case for everyone.
