Members Klatu
I have a Squire P bass I bought a few months ago while I was gathering funds for my American J.Thought about selling the Squire, but then thought about upgrading the Pickup to a real P pickup or a good aftermarkert version.Think I will get enough improvement in sound to make it worthwhile? Also, some suggestions on a specific make and model of pickup to get would be appreciated. Members Bluescout
Well, anything would probably be an improvement but Seymour Duncan Basslines Quarter Pounders would beef things up nicely.
Moderators Kindness Posted March 17, 2009 Moderators Share Posted March 17, 2009 I put the Fender Original Precision Pickup (Fender '62 RI) in mine. I also have a P with a Lindy Fralin, another with an Aero, another with a Fender '57 RI Pickup.

Members JC Bass
DiMarzio makes a couple of really nice sounding P replacement pups as well.
Members tenoken
SD 1/4 Pounder +1 Makes a BIG difference. Hopefully the neck on your Squier is decent.

You could put in the new pickup and a Warmoth neck and save yourself some dough.
