Good bass, but jazz type pups dont work well for me compared to reg humbucker type. Diff a try it before buy type bass due to heavier then average instrument weight and not your average bass voice. Did not like the passive version I had tried due to excessive pup hum. Figures the active version has hum cancelling circuitry of some sort. Sounds like you need to have yours repaired. I have a Corvette Standard active, and other than the weight, I have no complaints. I love the tone.
